Cypr Climate Overview

Cyprus has a classic Mediterranean climate with very hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. It is one of the warmest islands in the Mediterranean, with over 340 sunny days per year. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 35°C in the interior plain, while the Troodos Mountains offer cooler conditions at higher elevations.

Seasonal Patterns

Spring (March–May) is pleasant with temperatures between 18°C and 28°C. Summer (June–September) is dry and hot, with July and August averaging 36°C. Autumn brings the first rains. Winter (December–February) is mild on the coast, with snow on the Troodos peaks above 1,500m.

Weather Considerations

Cyprus faces increasing drought conditions and heat waves, with summer temperatures occasionally exceeding 45°C. Dust storms from the Sahara affect air quality, particularly in spring. The island receives minimal rainfall from May through September.
